“Great lunch buffet :P”
I went for lunch last week with an Indian co-worker. We were both impressed, but his recommendation is more valid since his family owns numerous Indian restaurants in India.
The buffet was well stocked and had a large selection of both meat and vegetarian fare. My second Indian choice in Austin after Bombay Bistro.
Doesn’t like it
The buffet is minimal for the price. They usually only have two main dishes, one meat and one veggie. At lunch the Buffet is up front and in the way of all the traffic coming in to sit down. Just basically a cluster.
The regular menu is good, but there are other places in town to get better Indian.
The atmosphere the only selling point Clay Pit has. The building is nicely restored. They keep getting traffic due to its location and NOT the food.
Go North to Bombay Bistro.
Even with working down close to 183 and Ben White, we often drive up to Bombay Bistro for lunch.
Their lunch buffet is larger than most Indian restaurants down south and the quality far exceeds all of those that we have been to. They usually have 4-5 main dishes on the buffet and 2 veggie choices.
Excellent price, excellent quality.
“Good lunch spot”
Good Indian food in the south east area. I mostly go for lunch and eat the buffet. The buffet is not large, but there is usually 2-3 main items, with the standard Indian sides.
Only down side, is they don’t like to serve tea. It is hard to get anything more than water, and when you do specifically ask for tea, it hardly ever gets refilled.
