Shell’s is small, hell tiny even. There are maybe 9 tables inside. They do have a large deck, but sometimes in the heat, you really want some A/C. So wait, there is a back story. We were sitting in Driftwood, Texas having Italian at Trattoria Lisina when one of us said “We should go to the beach, and eat seafood for dinner.”
“Used to be better…”
Ok, this is a corporate place, so it falls off my list of places I frequent, but when Carino’s first opened, the food was real good. The Veal was very good for being a chain, but now all has gone downhill. This happens many times when more competition moves in closer so don’t say you were not warned.
“Bartender now runs the show”
Doesn’t like it
I have been eating at Reale’s for over ten years. Tonight I go in to eat at the bar and the bartender tells us we can’t. Only appetizers. I asked who changed this? He said HE did. SO now because the bartender is horrible slow he refuses to serve food. I don’t even want to give the owner a call, I will just find another place.
“Every dish hand made…”
Since I was reviewing Texas Bar and Grill, I thought I would give Italian Garden next door the highest of props. This place is awesome, but make sure you have the time. Every dish is hand made. The owner has been in the kitchen for over 10 years. I have never had a bad meal there, but do not expect a high-end, black tie style of dining.Just good Italian food, locally owned, and hand made.
“not so much any more… ”
Doesn’t like it
This place used to be a great lunch spot. The last 3 times I have been in there the service was horribly slow. The final time, I stood at the hostess stand for 4 minutes, while numerous waitstaff and the manager walked by…none of which ever asked if I needed any service. I had 3 other people with me, and I told them, I would buy lunch ANYWHERE else, but we are not eating here – and I will NEVER BE BACK.your mileage may vary…
